The Baptistry faces the door of the Church. The font is simple in its design, set on a brick pedestal. It has inscribed on “Delicta lavacro hoc fontis sacro pereunt” – which translated, is “sins are destroyed in this sacred washing of the font”.
In a corner of the baptistery is a carved wooden statue of the Good Shepherd. The carving was begun by a pupil, but completed by the person in whose memory it was later placed in this position
The baptistery is flanked by two candles which are the work of the architect of the the building, Paul Waterhouse. If you stare carefully at the strangely arranged lettering on them you can form the names Rachael and Michael – the names of his children.
